Bedlington Terriers FC acknowledges that Saturdays result was not the start to the season anyone had hoped for. An 11-0 defeat is a difficult outcome to accept, but it is important to provide context and reaffirm our commitment to rebuilding this football club.
Over the summer, not a single player from last season remained with the squad. Despite the manager's best efforts, a number of experienced players who had initially committed to the project chose more financially lucrative offers elsewhere. This transition was compounded by the club's ongoing challenges, including being locked out of our home ground, clubhouse, and training facilities by the council. As a result, the team has been unable to train together for the past three weeks.
With a squad of only 13 available players, the majority of whom are new and unfamiliar with each other, we faced one of the strongest sides in the Premier Division. Independent FC played an excellent game and deserve credit for their performance. Our young team endured a difficult first half and, due to injuries and limited substitutions, finished the match with just 8 players on the pitch.
Despite the adversity, the second half displayed the spirit and determination we expect from those wearing a Terriers shirt. The young players, some making their first senior appearances, showed encouraging signs of cohesion, character, and commitment—qualities that will be essential as the squad grows together over the course of the season.
We ask our supporters to stand by the team during this period of rebuilding. There is a long road ahead, but with patience, hard work, and unity, Bedlington Terriers FC will rise again.
Thank you for your continued support.
